If not, no worries. It was enough to give me an idea of what I might like and I can from there dig in more online. 😅

Hi! I have two questions: 1) do you always use a scrap/blotter sheet under your left hand when using all fountain pens or just with dip pens? Can you explain why you use it? 2) do you use the glass dip pen for everyday writing (ie. journaling, planning, list making, etc. ) or just on special projects?

Very nice video- and you have beautiful handwriting! For your next Leonardo pen try the EF elastico nibs- they are fantastic and allow great line variation and flourishes!

I got a Pilot Metropolitan as my gateway fountain pen. I liked the experience of the fountain pen, but mine always ran wetter and tended to leak unless I stored the pen fully upright (this is using Pilot's inks, too!). It's an extra-fine as well! Then I got a TWSBI eco as my second fountain pen. I love being able to see my ink color inside, I also enjoy the screw cap and how it can really get bumped around without leaking. But it's definitely much drier, even as a fine. I have on-and-off hand and wrist pain, so I love having the choice of the two. I use my Metropolitan at work with plain black or blue-black ink, and I use my TWSBI for myself with fun colors. I've gotten a lot of questions and compliments from coworkers on both pens, and gotten someone else into the world of fountain pens and inks :) Anyways...thank you for taking us through your fountain pen and ink journey!

Late to this video; but moving country this Summer and considering a switch to Hobonichi, so very useful!

You might be able to revive the dried up ink. Ink is basically pigment and water so maybe scraping the pigment from the glass, adding a tiny bit of water at a time and shaking the bottle in between might yield at least a bit of usable ink.

Don’t worry. I am not a fan of the Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen or Pilot fountain pens in general. My beef is even if I have the right paper to write on, the nibs always seem so scratchy when I write. I am also not a fan of Lamy’s either. My go to’s are usually TWSBI’s, Sailors (though only have one because they’re so expensive), and Kaweco.

yes! Here for all the FP and Ink vids! For that Syo-ro, you just need to rehydrate it. Since you can see the line of where it was filled to before the water evaporated, just add distilled water back to that level. Since water is the only thing that evaporated, you can just add it back without changing the ink. I've done this on quite a few vinta inks (which notoriously seal poorly).

FYI! I am also not a fan of the Pilot Metropolitan, and neither is my fellow fountain pen fan co-worker lol I do like the Pilot Explorer more; it's not my favorite pen but definitely better than the Metropolitan :D Thanks for the swatches, I enjoyed this video a lot!

I loved colorful inks (catriges) when I was in school. I bought a fountain pen a while ago and I have to say those bottled inks are so much more interesting. Thanks for introducing me to fountain pens and inks. Helen didn‘t you also have inks from Ferris Wheel Press?
